Quarter-final bracket overview for World Cup 2026
Four quarter-finals over three days, all landing in early morning AEST. Here’s how to plan your betting card the practical way.

TL;DR — What you need to know in 30 seconds

Step 1 — Fix the schedule in AEST

All games are in the United States. Time difference: ET + 14 hours (AEST). All Australian kickoffs land Friday morning through Monday morning.

QF Match Date (AEST) Kickoff (AEST) Venue
QF1 France v Morocco Fri 10 July 06:00 Gillette Stadium, Foxborough
QF2 Spain v Belgium Sat 11 July 05:00 SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles
QF3 Norway v England Sun 12 July 07:00 Hard Rock Stadium, Miami
QF4 Argentina v Switzerland Mon 13 July 11:00 Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City

Semi-finals: SF1 Wed 15 July 05:00 AEST (Dallas), SF2 Thu 16 July 05:00 AEST (Atlanta). Source: Sky Sports, Yahoo Sports (8 July).

Tip: Argentina v Switzerland is the only match kicking off at a civilised Australian hour (11:00 AEST Monday). The rest need an alarm.

Step 2 — Read the tournament outright market

Snapshot FanDuel via FOX Sports 8 July at 11:29 ET (01:29 AEST 9 July). Decimal odds.

Rank Nation Odds Cross-book range
1 France 2.80 2.75–2.88
2 Spain 4.70 4.50–4.70
3 Argentina 4.90 4.00 (UK) – 5.00
4 England 5.60 5.00–5.70
5 Norway 15.0
6 Morocco 28.0
7 Belgium 31.0
8 Switzerland 34.0

France is the favourite in every book we checked. Argentina shortened from +4500 (R16 in-play low) to 4.90 after their 3-2 comeback vs Egypt.

Step 3 — Learn each QF’s 1X2 line

DraftKings, bet365, FanDuel, SuperBook via CBS/SportsLine, DK Network, Squawka (7–8 July):

Match 1 X 2
France v Morocco 1.56–1.59 3.80–3.95 6.00–6.90
Spain v Belgium 1.61 4.00 5.25
Norway v England 3.80 (Norway) 3.50 1.85–1.95 (England)
Argentina v Switzerland 1.71–1.80 (Argentina) 3.50 5.25 (Switzerland)

Average favourite line: 1.66 — tight, but not unreasonable given the quality of the survivors.

Step 4 — Track the injury board

Status as of 9 July morning ET (23:00 AEST 9 July). Sources: ESPN, Yahoo Sports, Sky Sports, Sports Mole, KooraBreak (7–8 July):

Team Player Status
France Aurélien Tchouaméni major doubt (adductor)
Morocco Ismael Saibari ruled out (hamstring)
Spain Nico Williams doubt (adductor)
Belgium Amadou Onana out for tournament (ACL)
Norway Marcus Holmgren Pedersen doubt (fever)
England Jarell Quansah suspended (red card)
England Jordan Henderson out for tournament (wrist fracture at goal celebration)
England Reece James doubt (hamstring)
Argentina Gonzalo Montiel 1 yellow (another = SF ban)
Switzerland Johan Manzambi doubt (knee)

Step 5 — Understand the Golden Boot race

Source: FIFA, Sky Sports, Al Jazeera (7–8 July 2026).

Rank Player Nation Goals Odds
1 Lionel Messi Argentina 8 2.20
2 Kylian Mbappé France 7 2.40
2 Erling Haaland Norway 7 8.50
4 Harry Kane England 6 10.0

Messi retook the lead — and the favourite tag — after scoring in Argentina’s 3-2 win over Egypt on 7 July.

Step 6 — Build your card the Australian way

Because online in-play betting is prohibited in Australia (phone-only), plan every position before kickoff:

  1. Pick one match per weekend day. Don’t try to bet all four QFs — one anchor per day (Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon).
  2. Prioritise 1X2 or over/under 2.5 goals. These are the deepest markets and the widest-price lines.
  3. Anytime goalscorer is the safest player prop. Set-piece takers (Hakimi, Ødegaard) often shorter than they should be pre-match.
  4. Skip accumulators. Cross-match multis rarely price the correlation right.
  5. Use BetStop if you need a break. BetStop.gov.au is the national self-exclusion service.

Step 7 — Set your stake sizing

Standard advice: no more than 1% of bankroll per bet, and no more than 3% total exposure per matchday. Four QFs, four days, sensible caps.

Step 8 — Watch, verify, review

Pre-match line-ups drop about an hour before kickoff (05:00 AEST for QF1). If Tchouaméni starts, France firms. If he sits, the Morocco draw line becomes more interesting.

The wrap

Weekend structure:

Winners meet in the semis (Wed / Thu 15–16 July, 05:00 AEST). Final: Monday 20 July, 07:00 AEST, MetLife Stadium.
