Every Market Settled — and Why Backing Spain in the 1X2 Lost

The Final’s Two Markets

The rule: in knockout matches the 1X2 settles on normal time only, while outright and to-lift markets settle on the full match including extra time and penalties. It is a definitional difference, not a trap — but it is the mistake punters make most often at this stage of a tournament.
Practical version: at the quarter-final stage onward, check which of the two you are actually holding before the match, not after.

The Golden Boot was effectively settled the day before the final: Mbappe’s brace in the third-place match took him to 10 and closed the market. Messi’s drift to 13.00 proved correct — he was held scoreless.
The Goalscorer Market
None of the listed favourites scored: Messi 2.50, Oyarzabal 2.60, Yamal 3.30. The goal came from Ferran Torres, a 62nd-minute substitute with no tournament goals to his name, out in longshot territory around 16.00 or higher.
Worth filing for next time: finals are structurally prone to longshot scorers, because deciding goals tend to arrive late and often from the bench. In this one both players involved — the header and the finish — were substitutes. If you play anytime-scorer markets in finals, the bench is where the value sits, not the front three.
